Hybrid Willow

Austree

Description

Austree is hybrid willow tree, scientifically known as Salix Alba x Salix Matsudana. This willow grows extremely quickly, reaching an additional 4 – 6 feet in a single year! These willow trees will eventually reach 50 – 70 feet in height.

Austrees work well as windbreaks and to prevent erosion on slopes and gullies. These trees have aggressive root systems, therefore, planting near septic systems and foundations is not recommended. The tree thrives in more alkaline soils but will adapt to most all soil types. These trees prefer full sun but will tolerate some shade.

Where it can be found

The Hybrid Willow can successfully be grown in USDA Hardiness Zones 4-9.
